Once a year, East Wake High School hosts a student-faculty basketball game to raise money for the school, but besides raising money for the school, the student vs faculty basketball game is meant to be a unifying and fun experience for all involved and attending. This year’s charity basketball game was held Thursday, April 21, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m in the main gym, with admission of $5. Teachers and students battled it out in the gym for a friendly, but competitive game of basketball. Each team of students had a chance to make up their own name and pick their team.
First the students had to play in a tournament against other students to see who will play against the staff. Girls JV basketball team head coach Cassie King was the faculty coach during the game. The team who made it to the finals was the “Fab Five.” Malik Freeman said, “It was fun playing with my teammates since this is our last year we can play together and seeing each other for a while.”
After the outstanding performance, teachers scored the win by a score of 20-19.
